At last, we brought ourselves to tell you about our new photography project – "No other language for love.” The point is that in every new journey we will photograph a couple and tell their story, which will reveal the peculiarities of relationships and love in that destination. We want this project to embody the concept of love knowing no boundaries, nationalities and language barriers. The project was inspired by Uni and Marin – the couple from the Faroe Islands. We were to spend just a few hours with them on a shooting set, but ended up having three incredible days together filled with smiles, emotions and a sense of authentic love and friendship.
We met the couple in their homeland – Torhsavn. Just a few minutes after meeting, we felt how simple and easy it was to communicate with these lovely people. Hanging out together the whole evening, we agreed to spend the next day on Suðuroy – the beautiful island where Marin's family lives. But the coming day met us with rain and fog so the shooting was completely impossible. Instead of being discouraged, Marin offered us to show her island. That is how we spent all day – driving and witnessing amazing places all around us. And finally we came to the southernmost point of Faroe Islands – the Akraberg lighthouse. Tired and soaked, but still happy, we ended the day with a wonderful dinner in a cozy house of Marin’s family, where her parents treated us to the traditional home-made dishes.
But it was not the end of our shared adventure. The next day guys invited us to the last summer festival (there are series of them from July to August on the Faroe Islands). However, instead of usual festival we imagined, it felt almost like a home holiday. All the locals gathered in the main square to listen to the local musicians and accompany their singing. After the festival, Uni offered us to visit his friend, who, as it turned out, was one of the most famous musicians on the Faroe Islands, and the lower floor of his house was turned into a bar for friends! All night long, Uni and his friends played the guitar and sang songs. All the voices and instruments became a single melody, filled with a sense of special unity and love for each other.
Finally, the next day we were able to do what we initially wanted – to make pictures of Uni and Marin. And it was one of the most amazing shootings that we have ever done! Guys were so sincere and natural and it was a great pleasure to watch them kissing, hugging and having fun. They were so warm together despite the strong wind and cold rain. Getting a chance to photograph the couple made us overwhelmingly happy and we hope our images reveal their feelings.
Love is always expressed in different ways, but this feeling is so strong that it shifts all boundaries between people. Every day we can see it all around. Everyone knows a lot of stories about people who seem to be a mismatch, but they are still together. And our project is meant to communicate this feeling of love, so from every journey we will bring not only the photos, but also inspiring stories. The stories of love.
